WHAT IF ...
It's up to you?
What happens if we name and address the city dweller as the true owner of the public spaces of the city?

In response to:
Current design practice
The traditional role and practice of an urban designer is changing. We want to leave the era of drawingboard plans and unintentional elephant tracks behind. We are not trying to offer an all-encompassing solution anymore, but rather support the urban citizens in making the right decisions for their own living environment.
Design process & expertise
We believe that the spatial design process requires more expertise that one sole designer can have. That’s why we cooperate with other designers and professionals within Olifantenpad CS.We are an urban psychologist, urban designer, light designer, and experts of VR and Neurofeedback.
Smart Cities and the Citizen
Current Smart Cities solutions are all about Crime prevention and Logistics. Why not use the awesome power of technology and data to make people happy? We want to put human well-being at the center of Smart City Solutions.

Designtools for a happy city
It all start with talking
Meet the people where they live!
The knowledge and experiences of their living environment is essential in designing the public spaces. The municipality, the designer and the citizens should be on equal footing in this process.
In the end it’s about taking care of each other, our city and the environment, together. In getting the people involved we are adding to the social cohesion of the area. It will lead to places where people feel at home.
Build it together
Virtual Reality and Spatial Design
The feeling of immersion makes VR a powerfull tool in the spatial design process. People can design their own public space in VR, with the help of a toolbox filled by designers and experience firsthand the effect of their choices.
They can do this alone, or with multiple people at the same time. Afterwards, the different designs created this way, will be tested with Neurofeedback to find the design that’s best on both a conscious and a subconscious level.
Can we measure happiness?
Neurofeedback
With neurofeedback we measure the often unconscious reaction of people on the design. Are they stressed or just relaxed? Do they feel safe or are they extra alert?
Is there a noticeable difference between the reaction of people from different groups (young/old, male/female, different cultures or abilities)? To create a truly inclusive urban design these data are essential!
The ultimate design decisions are based on the measurable experience of a diversity of urban citizens.
We are an urban psychologist, urban designer, light designer, and experts of VR and Neurofeedback. What unites and motivates us:
- an interest in another role for the (urban) citizens within the spatial design process
- to support the spatial design process by the use of technology and psychology
